License Tokens

License Tokens let headless environments — the Docker Runner, CI pipelines, build servers — validate your license without your account login. A token can do exactly one thing: confirm your license status. It cannot access your account, your graphs, or your settings.

Requires a Business plan or higher.

Creating a Token

  1. Open Licensing from the avatar menu
  2. In the License Tokens section, enter a descriptive name (for example github-actions or render-server) and choose a lifetime (1 day to never expires)
  3. Click generate

The token (starting with lt_) is displayed once. Copy it immediately and store it in a safe place, such as your CI provider’s secret store. It cannot be shown again.

Managing Tokens

The token list shows each token’s name, creation date, expiry, and when it was last used — so you can spot tokens that are unused or should not be in use.

Revoke a token with the trash button. Revoked tokens are refused for new container starts and graph deployments within a few minutes. A container already running in sidecar mode will continue until it is restarted — the service does not re-check the token at runtime. Your login and all other tokens are unaffected.

Good practice: one token per machine or pipeline, so a leak or a decommissioned server means revoking exactly one token.

Troubleshooting

License Not Activating

  1. Check internet connection: License validation requires internet
  2. Verify email: Make sure your email is verified
  3. Check payment: Ensure payment went through
  4. Log out and back in: Refresh license status
  5. Contact support: If issue persists

Feature Not Available

If a feature is locked:

  1. Check plan: Verify your current plan includes the feature
  2. Check status: Make sure license status is “Active” or “Trialing”
  3. Upgrade: Upgrade to a plan that includes the feature
  4. Restart app: Close and reopen Project Succession
